OI and Volume

Open interest is the number of open contracts at each strike and expiration. Volume is the number traded today. Side by side they show where positions are and where the trading is.

1. Open interest

In one pane, the joy app with oi:

joy ADBE oi

2. Volume

Split the pane and open the same app with volm:

joy ADBE volm

Each row is an expiration and each bar a strike; calls are yellow, puts are blue.

3. Any symbol

Replace the symbol with @ in both panes, and they follow the global symbol:

joy @ oi

joy @ volm

Variations

Only the five nearest expirations, within 10% of the spot price:

joy ADBE oi exp=1-5 rng=10

The same numbers added up by strike, as a table (stks):

stks ADBE oi
